  1. I've written a few film scripts over the last 10 years but so far only one has actually been shot.  It's called THE TOLL and is black comedy crime thing set in Pembrokeshire.  With Covid happening, it's never had a theatrical release and has never been seen anywhere. but it's streaming online for 4 days only through the Glasgow Film Festival between 25th and 28th February.  If anyone wants to take a look, it's £9.99 to rent it.

You can rent it here https://glasgowfilm.org/glasgow-film-festival/shows/toll-the-n-c-18

This is what the film festival said about it

This Welsh thriller mixes the dark comedy of the Coen Brothers with the antihero of Sergio Leone's spaghetti westerns as the past catches up with a former criminal. Brendan (Michael Smiley) is content with his life as a lone toll booth operator in a small Welsh town. But when a familiar face from his previous life of crime resurfaces, it sets off a madcap chain of events that lead to a showdown of epic proportions. Meanwhile, local traffic cop Catrin’s (Annes Elwy) investigation into a robbery has her unknowingly heading directly into the thick of the action.

  2. I don't think I've been to a gig in Cardiff in ages, think the last one may have been The Bronx.  Occasionally go to Le Pub for gigs, last few were Restorations, THiS, and also an acoustic set by Tom May from the Menzingers where he butchered a Clash song so badly I nearly got PTSD.

Head over to Bristol pretty regularly for touring bands from US/Canada who've been around a while - in the last couple of years I've seen both Pup and The Menzingers a few times, plus Propagandhi (one of the best gigs I've ever been to), Mighty Mighty Bosstones and more.  I'll go to London now and again as well and went to Slam Dunk last year.

Only time I saw Good Riddance was at that Deconstruction gig in London in 2000 and they were fantastic, so psyched to see them on the bill. Plenty of time to catchup on the smaller bands I don't know at the moment. I will be truly gutted if normality isn't back by then, or knowing my luck a new wave will hit just before hand.

I think I've only seen Good Riddance once - Reading festival 1999.  I feel like they don't get mentioned that much but every single record is really good.  Love them.

Must have been the posh vegan custard creams I found, I've never bought bourbons that weren't the cheapo 'vegan by default' versions from corner shops.

I feel like those white oreos are like a posh custard cream

Managed ADEQUATE SEVEN for a bit, spent a lot of time touring the toilet circuit around Europe before working in film and TV production for a while.  Played in a wedding band CAPITAL CITY SKA for 10 years and got paid more for the first gig than I ever did in the Goon.  Also formed THE BARRY HORNS brass band with other ex-Goons, Ad7 boys and a few others (Howl joined in as well) and did that for 7 years before knocking it on the head.

Living in Cardiff, still go to gigs though mostly in Bristol these days.  Scrape a living writing for film and TV and have a film called THE TOLL coming out at some point, but with Corona changing everything, I have no idea when.  Also I gave up drinking 8 years ago and 3 years later went vegan.

    It's good to be back.
