What i can help is with getting it publicised in the media, radio, press etc...

I need some details and the like, and then watch me go.

As far as the day is concerned, i can turn up and help out if need be.

Thank you on the PR offer.

I can flyer my University for a few days but I don't know much about making flyers, and they'd be a little useless without the lineup on I guess.

How about getting all the local bands to donate a c.d/merch which could be raffled off on the night as one bulk prize?

this is a great idea and good to see so many people offering to help / raise money, but i seriously can't see the burmese government allowing any significant amount of foreign aid inside any time soon. where is the money going to go if they don't?

edit: omission! Edited by danielle

MSF are working (or trying at least) in Burma, so I'm guessing the collection will be passed to them as they are the usual recipients of the fundraising here, at worst it'll go to someone else in need of emergency aid.

Yeah, we're working on the presumption that by the time the money's counted, the situation will hopefully have changed also.

it would be a good idea to donate some money at least to a burmese buddhist association, afterall they are the ones who have had the biggest effect and are doing the most to directly help :)

i don't want to sound like a smart ass, but buddhism isn't a "religion"

and if it wasn't for the buddhist monks, god knows how many more people would have died.

ediiiiit, again! : don't want to quibble on a benefit thread haha, i'm just putting the idea out there, they deserve some donations for their good work! Edited by danielle

re·li·gion

1. a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, esp. when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.

2. a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects: the Christian religion; the Buddhist religion.

It is neither a religion in the sense in which that word is commonly understood, for it is not "a system of faith and worship owing any allegiance to a supernatural being."

it's not really a religion, but it is in the common meaning of the word, and that's where the similarity ends. buddhists don't believe in a God, which pretty much defines having a religion, starting wars, being a cunt.
look it up if you don't believe me, it's hard to explain....especially when i said i don't want to quibble on a benefit thread hahah

i will be at the benefit however, and hopefully that charity that gets the money will do some good with it

This is why we stayed clear of theological organisations from the offset.
