This one takes the biscuit even more than the olympics one, atleast the olympics logo was original looking. This one just looks bland, and seems like it took 10 minutes in illustrator.

Infact it bares a striking resemblance to something I actually did knock up in 5 minutes a few months back

I would have done it for £1000, and looked no different I bet. Hardly a complex piece of illustration or anything.

Wow. Everyone clearly hates it. Well done once more for doing another fantastically executed job at doing your residents over, WAG.

Actually, should I be blaming the WAG? Is someone else in charge of this?

i think you'll find that is tom jones, and my 45 thousand pound budget only allowed me to get a few select source images

edit: the area i marked off as cardiff is also accurate to the tee

should be made into a competition of 'who can draw a better cardiff logo' in the graphics design etc section

you should technically be blaming the design company concerned, as i'd imagine they set their prices rather than WAG.

*mutters about capitalist pigs etc*

To be realistic for a second, its not really as simple as 'here's a shit logo', 'here have 45grand' - it's the overall cost of implementing the shit logo too. Everything has to be rebranded.

[quote]A new logo has been unveiled to market Cardiff on the international stage, aimed at ditching the "stereotype" of daffodils and dragons.

If only it could have ditched the stereotype of 'being utterly backwards' by dropping the unneeded Welsh translation. Dragons: Cool. Welsh Language: Rubbish.

It cost UWN 1 million to implement the latest identity for the uni and that's shite.

[quote]The colours of the logo, the city's first, are meant to represent the colours of the city, including the waterfront and parks.

Ok, so I guess that's the blue and the green covered, no mention of the other colours. I think what we have here is a perfect example of making shit up on the spot.

£45k really isn't a lot of money in the grand scheme of things, folks.

I don't think it's so much about the amount of money, it's about the quality of what they got for that money

unfortunately we live in a capitalist world where everything (yep, cities included) needs to be branded in order to enhance self-promotion and encourage investment and development.

Cardiff's expanding rapidly and the re-branding will help to bring in a lot more money and investment than it has cost, in the long term.

the problem for WAG is that they're damned if they do, damned if they don't.
