I'll help out however I can obvz. Been struggling to think of a lineup that I'd love to see (that is feasible) though.

Could always do a garan cabaret band, doing classic/amazing party tunes :P

This event needs Lucy's vegan cakes and no mistake.

Drugs come out of boredom, babe.
UN exports it everyday.
Their armies feed the ghetto lame.
Government approve it just the same.

a kid called power.

i've been thinking about this, i don't want to get all negi but is there a risk that only the current users will turn up which is probably about 50 people. Do you think old users will actually come out for this or is likely to end up a bit of a damp squib?

The three hour seminar, 'When I Was a Lad All These Websites Were Just Fields: An Introspective on The Pre-Facebook Internet' where people in their 30s moan about the recent lack of luring mouthy idiots onto the forum just to point and laugh at them, might put some off...

But nah, it'll be advertised like any other gig and AFAIK there isn't a huge Anti-SWM movement in existence that people will jump to boycott it or anything daft like that.

I was asking more in a 'will people give a shit' rather than a 'i think people will ignore us because they hate us' kind of negi. Would be good if a lot of older users gave a fuck (i've put my rose tinted glasses on).

Ah I get ya, well fingers crossed we can get a lineup that'll inspire people to get out and get a packed house. I demand more reunions than any show, ever.

There's a man down here not worried or afraid
That some politician forgot all the promises he made
And he's raising the dead in the graveyards
Where we've laid down our dreams
His name is Hope

Yep, I did that before for the MMA event we were involved in promoting and it worked fine (a few grizzly 'get me off this list's that I promptly ignored as they were too stupid to set their accounts up correctly) and it bunged out about 4,000 emails over the space of a few hours.

Once final details are known I can do that, and also have it so southwalesmassive.com goes to a splash screen about the gig before the forum too. Then the usual poster/flyer/social media-ness.

You need to make an event that people will attend NOW for whatever reason, not rely on bands or the past.

Surely 99% of gigs rely on the bands though?

Is the gig for charity? If so, it'd surely be worthwhile to put some crowd pullers on. Crowd-pullers and SWM favourites aren't mutally exclusive though.

It was something that went through my head, but I think the ideologies of doing something for charity and a party for SWM don't really line up. If it was a pure charity thing, then yes... book whatever bands you can get that get people through the door and charge as much as possible to maximise the profit. For this I'd rather it be about cheap entry, good bands and a good time. No objection if there is money left over (which based on previous shows I've done, is not overwhelmingly likely but possible) to stick it towards a charity, or having a charity bucket somewhere too (or if we can pull it off for free entry have a 'donation bucket' at the door and hint that it's expected you put something in ;)

Gotcha, I get what you mean now. There's undoubtedly some great bands currently, most of which I haven't seen much as I've admittedly not been to anywhere near as many gigs as I used to go to, so there's no doubt that it'd be great to have representation from as many of those as possible. Having a band up for reuniting would just be the icing on top of the cake, and likely to be what gets maybe a handful more people to come out that wouldn't have otherwise.

Venue wise, as well as Le Pub I've also had an offer for 'hopefully free' in Cardiff too. Now my head is dizzy with regards to what to do. I don't want to turn away any kind offers!
