i don't want to sound like a smart ass, but buddhism isn't a "religion"

and if it wasn't for the buddhist monks, god knows how many more people would have died.

ediiiiit, again! : don't want to quibble on a benefit thread haha, i'm just putting the idea out there, they deserve some donations for their good work!

re·li·gion

1. a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, esp. when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.

2. a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects: the Christian religion; the Buddhist religion.

It is neither a religion in the sense in which that word is commonly understood, for it is not "a system of faith and worship owing any allegiance to a supernatural being."

it's not really a religion, but it is in the common meaning of the word, and that's where the similarity ends. buddhists don't believe in a God, which pretty much defines having a religion, starting wars, being a cunt.
look it up if you don't believe me, it's hard to explain....especially when i said i don't want to quibble on a benefit thread hahah

i will be at the benefit however, and hopefully that charity that gets the money will do some good with it

When I was just a little boy
I asked my mother "what shall I be?"
"Shall I be Swindon, shall I be Gills?"
Here's what she said to me;

Wash your mouth out son
And go get your father's gun
And shoot the Swindon scum
Shoot the Swindon scum

no worries danielle, don't take it personally. For a number of reasons, keeping religion (sorry) out of these events should make it less complicated.
Your help is very welcome, lets hope we can get the same numbers as previously, plus some new faces

I don't know whether or not the benefit needs them, but I fucking do. So make sure you make LOADS. I'll exclusively eat them all day long.

If I can help in any way then count me in. The only way I think I'd help raising money is if I was auctioned off as part of a batchelor auction....but failing that I'll just provide general help to whoever's organising it.

Have you seen the Simpsons where Apu gets married? The batchelor auction at the start of that? Where Moe dances straight into the rejects bin? That's what it would be like.

We should get JFH involved now that we're mates with him and all.

If by mates you mean running through Cardiff city centre looking for a sight of him then not only am I I'm mates with every girl who posts on here.

My batchelor auction idea not withstanding I am struggling to think up anything for this other than the usual tried and tested money making ideas.

Maybe we could have a sentence structure bee? It would be liike a spelling bee, but involving correctly ordering words to form coherent sentences.

We really do need to think of some money raising ideas that people will actually want to buy into rather than things people feel obligated to buy into like lucky dips and raffles.

Lets see if I could do a season ticket for gig entry, certain amount of gigs free entry for a certain period, mmmm, maybe we should get all the promoters to do that ????

Most of you blag the guest list anyway, so maybe not so good.

Like a golden gig ticket? It'll probably only be a few shows but I dont mind letting the winner into anything I put on this year.

I think the 'all the bands/labels chuck in some merch in the raffle prize' is a good idea...the robots talk in twos merch is gathering dust in my house.

Had a word, i am pretty sure i can sort-

A spot on Adam Walton to speak about the gig
South Wales Argus/South Wales echo/Western Mail coverage
XFM South Wales to mention it

Obviously i could syndicate it as 'news' across all the online zines etc...
