unfortunately we live in a capitalist world where everything (yep, cities included) needs to be branded in order to enhance self-promotion and encourage investment and development.

Cardiff's expanding rapidly and the re-branding will help to bring in a lot more money and investment than it has cost, in the long term.

I don't really care about the price of it, it's just fucking shit. It's meant to represent a City with history and culture. This logo is befitting of a call centre, which, metaphorically, is what Cardiff is fast becoming.

how do you represent history and culture in a logo though? and without using either:

1. gothic-style font
2. a pic of a daffodil
3. a pic of a dragon
4. a pic of a neanderthal swigging from a pint of Brains
5. a mine
6. a choir

and making it snappy and visually-appealling, whilst also addressing both ideals of "distinctive cultural history" as well as "modern, forward-moving city"?

Well I don't agree with Jay's dislike of the Welsh language but it is not racist, lets not forget that alot of people in South Wales feel that Welsh has been forced upon them and that changing street names and street signs is a loss of history and a waste of money, he might be right about the uneeded trasnlation, but i would prefer the official name to be the Welsh one seeing as it's generally accepted that is where the English version originates. When you going to chnage your name back? you look like a right coc oen.
