I want a fastish lens for indoors. At the moment I have no cash to splash. Read some reviews on it and some comparisons to the F/1.4 and I obvz would prefer the F/1.4. God I sound like a dick. Basically I just want to know if anyone's used it.

Sorry to bump such an old thread but I thought it'd be best posting here rather than make a new one.
Ordered one of these today for use with my Canon HV30 and DOF adapter and hoping to get a nice filmic look with my camera. Managed to get this lens for a nice 30 quid, so I'm hoping its good, but if its not great then its not too bad for the price.
Might post some video tests soon.

I've had the 50mm 1.8 MKII for about a year now, tis a cracking lens to use, awesome for portrait and even pretty good for some close up work. Focus is pretty slow in low light and at f1.8 it's not going to be sharp if you're photographing more than 1 person (unless you bump the aperture up obv)

Hmm, well I'm going to be using it for video more than photography so I'm not really sure if it makes a difference. It was one of the lenses recommended by the 35mm adapter seller though.
It was also advised to but a achromat too, to reduce vignetting, barrel distortion and chromatic abberation. I haven't bought one yet but was wondering if anybody knew anything about them and whether they are essential?

50mm 1.8 is a really good lens for the money,build quality isn't very good,but if you look after it there's no issues with it.my friend just bought one and she loves it.
